5.0 out of 5 stars Just the ticket, 12 Nov 2005
By Confuseius (Virtual Space) - See all my reviews
I've read a number of disappointing books on ADO.NET, but this book nails the topic. It gives you a nice, condensed and UNDERSTANDABLE overview of ADO.NET, walks you through SQL if you need a primer or a refresher and then takes you every step of the way through building an application using all of the topics introduced at the start - and then some. It has an easy style, doesn't waffle, walks you through creating a beautiful state-of-the (Microsoft) art user interface and then tops it off by building a Web Service. This book is so much more than a beginner's guide to VB.NET databases, but never blinds you with science or deviates from its nice easy gait. If all computer books were this straightforward, the world (and web) would be a better place.
