2.0 out of 5 stars Full of Errors!, 23 Aug 2006
By Emma Wansbrough (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This covers the basics fairly well, however its full of examples with errors in, from examples in chapter 3 'Getting Started with Struts' where spurious attributes are added to the html:form tag right up to Chapter 13 'Tiles' when it uses the Tiles plug in configured incorrectly!

I found myself having to trawl the web to correct the examples.
On this pretext, I would not recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely useful, 2 Jan 2007
Although there are occasional errors in the examples, this book has been very useful to me. We refer to it frequently in my office. The authors have taken a clear step-by-step approach to examining each of the main aspects of Struts. You don't have to wade through pages of unnecessary waffle. It also starts with a very clear, concise overview of the Java servlet specification which lays the foundation that Struts is built on - excellent if Struts confuses the hell out of you!
