Synopsis
Access 2000 is the fifth version of the hugely successful desktop database from Microsoft. When it was first released in 1992, Access immediately gained praise for its ease of use and power. Each release of Access has added features and increased usability, and with Access 2000 we now have a unified development environment for the whole of the Office 2000 suite of applications. Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is the programming language that gives Access its real power, allowing you to automate complex tasks and create applications with more scope and flexibility than is possible with its default forms and macros. VBA has a simple syntax allowing even complete novices to learn programming with very little effort, and this book illustrates the concepts with plenty of examples and exercises. Who is this book for? This book is for users who already have a basic knowledge of databases and the basic Access objects, such as tables, queries, forms and reports. 5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, 10 Aug 2002
A short but sweet review. I love this book! I'm only half way through at the moment, but what I've learnt so far (particulary about OOP and, specifically, Access objects) has made my understanding of VBA complete. The light hearted style makes for very easy reading, though sometimes you do wish the authors would come to the point. Thanks entirely to this book, my confidence with VBA is growing by the day, and I hope soon to be able to apply it at work, rather than relying on macros.

Having done several courses in programming (one costing thousands and another a couple of hundred pounds) I'd definately advise anyone to save their dosh, and buy this instead! It's the best £30 I've ever spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 16 Sep 2003
Fantastic book. Covers material in depth but in an easy to follow style. The authors communicate the ideas and principles in a clear and concise manner that logically develops the reader's understanding of VBA. Aimed at those who already have a good grounding in access and are used to dealing with forms, queries, tables etc. but have no VB or VBA experience. If you fall into this category and want to know more you won't be dissapointed with this book.

Not A very long review, but this book was great.
It covered nearly all areas of VBA in Access and was very useful for my IT coursework.
If you want to learn VBA in simple steps then this book is for you!
