5.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOK!, 20 Nov 2008

This review is from: Changing to Win (Paperback)
Giles Long is a true inspiration to us all - his life and achievements in sport stand as a testament to what can be achieved if there is enough drive, love, support and sheer refusal to come second.

Dealing with the life changing shock and impact of bone cancer in his teenage years, Giles shares with us, in a charmingly honest style, his innermost feelings and fears as two years of operations, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and rehabilitation take their toll and challenge his very will and desire to live. Throughout all, his love of and passion for swimming remains undimmed and helps to carry him through to double Paralympic gold.

For any athlete, in any sport, who has experienced the highs and lows of training and competing for the highest honours, or for young prospective athletes who want to know what it's like to be an elite sports performer and how to deal with the successes and disappointments of a career in sport, Giles book is a must read.
