This books gives insight in to Robert Mugabe's actions and inactions over the last 2 decades. Giving reason to the stories that are reported in the british press. It explains the stories behind the headlines and the events preceding the desperate situation Zimbabwe finds itself in now. However, at times the narrative jumps from one event to another with very little explanation. A knowledge of Zimbabwe helps to enjoy this book and without it the reader might get confused.

overall though a good book and up to date account of the last 20 years of zimbabwe and southern african politics
