3.0 out of 5 stars Good and Not So Good, 21 Aug 2008
I have love - hate relationship with this book. On the good side, and the main reason for buying it, is that it teaches an excellent programming style, particularly when using unbound forms. This programming approach is allured to in other more comprehensive books but only this book spells it out. I continue to refer to the book for this aspect and it has definitely improved my Access applications as a result.
On the not so good side, is there are too many things that the author does not explain fully. For example, class objects are not explained adequately and I had to read other sources to understand this topic. Each section has a 'How It Works' review that does not actually explain how it works but just re-iterates what you just learnt. There are two good applications to be built by following the final sections of the book. However, one of them has a line of code missing - annoying! You can get all of the correct code from the publisher's website, though.
I was left with the overall impression that the Author was in a major hurry to release this book.
