One question I'm often asked about my books is whether the setting is real or not.
Here I get chance to follow in the characters footsteps from both Vampyrrhic and Vampyrrhic Rites and take in some of the sights such as Whitby Abbey and the house where Bram Stoker stayed on his visits to Whitby over a century ago. One of my favourite authors is Arthur Machen. On a visit to Whitby during World War 1 he described it as 'a town of a magic dream.' Do you agree? And what do you make of the little figurine I saw in the British Musuem that dates back six thousand years and appears to be wearing a pair of rather funky sunglasses? Curiouser and curiouser...
