4.0 out of 5 stars Everything is spiritual - really it is!!, 29 July 2008
By T. Curry "Timbo" (UK) - See all my reviews

You have to admire anyone who can speak for just over an hour without notes and without any clever editing or stuff like that.
In this humourous, thought provoking and challenging presentation, Rob Bell brings together the Creation story, quantum physics, relativity and manages to do so without inducing major headaches or 'uhhh?' moments.
I highly recommend this DVD if you want to stretch your brain about some of the big questions in life!

4.0 out of 5 stars Faith, science and wisecracks, 6 Sep 2008
An hour and a bit of one man theatre theology produced off the back of his 2007 tour of the same name. I actually bought it because I thought it would be a great way to stretch the minds of some of our gap year trainees. Now having watched it (3 times!) I'm pretty sure it would just go right over their heads because the material in it is pretty intense. The lecture (because that's what it really is) flows from theology to cosmology, blends observational humour with philosophy, and brings quantum physics to life with doodles and wisecracks... "because we all know how exotic leptons can be right?"
For everyone who worries or wonders about the shallowness or the narrowness of the arguments on both sides of the faith / science divide this really is a feast. For everyone else, well, there's a reason they don't stock this at your local Blockbuster so stick with American Pie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rings a Bell!, 30 July 2008
By Paul James Cocksedge "SPACE" (U.K) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Rob Bell founding pastor and teacher at Mars Hill Bible Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan and famous for his short NOOMA films has now made his first full length DVD.
Based on his 'Everything is Spiritual' Tour of July 2006 this 1 Hour and 17 minute presentation seeks to answer why if you asked Jesus about his 'spiritual life' why at best you would recieve a raised-eye brow and at worst a good full-throttle laugh at your expense!
Using nothing more than a (very)long white-board and black marker-pen Rob seeks to prove why "Everything is Spiritual".This presentation covers a huge amount of ground from the hidden numerical structure at the heart of the creation "poem" ( "For that is what it is" - Rob Bell) at the beginning of the book of Genesis to the most recent findings and concepts at the core of classical and theoretical physics. If that that makes the movie sound heavy going it really isn't, everything is covered in laymans language and the talk is often funny with numerous humourous asides and Rob Bell really knows how to work a white-board! I found some of the metaphores and graphics to be ingenious, in particular Robs use of Edwin Abbots 'Flatland' to explain the difference between the Christian and atheist perception of the world - fear the hand of Rob!
This is a brilliant presentation and Rob Bell is on top form.
The DVD comes in fold out 'Eco' friendly package with a copy of Robs scrawled on white-board printed on the inner sleeve.
