Product Description

The Paperback Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus is a great value-for-money product. It is the ultimate one-stop reference, containing both a dictionary and a thesaurus. The dictionary and thesaurus texts are combined in a way that provides ease of access to both: the top section of each page shows the dictionary text, whilst the lower section gives matching thesaurus entries for many of the words. The dictionary section has excellent coverage of everyday English, containing over 90,000 words, phrases, and definitions, whilst the thesaurus has over 100,000 alternative and opposite words. This edition has been updated so that it contains the latest words and senses, with excellent coverage of everyday English.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed., 17 Feb 2009
I got this to help me a little with my studies, hoping it would help my vocabulary grow, however I'm really not impressed. I know it's just an everyday dictionary but there are a few words that aren't complex that aren't mentioned, one that springs to mind is 'potential' this is not mentioned at all and there are a few words in the dictionary part that are not mentioned in the thesaurus and vice versa.
The dictionary and thesaurus are not split into two books within the one, the thesaurus is along the bottom half of the page.
Fine for an everyday dictionary to have in the house but really, not overall a great purchase. Personally I'm unhappy with this.
Can't fault Amazon in their delievery though.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for all students and professionals., 8 Jan 2009
By Helga (Paphos, Cyprus) - See all my reviews
My studies suddenly became easier. English is not my first language but with the Oxford Dictionary next to me my studies seems to be so much more easy. I found that when you have more than one choice when purchasing a book, the Oxford books is always the best and funny enough, not always the most expensive.
