Sensible, informative, complete., 11 Nov 2001
By A Customer
If anyone has read other books in the "Complete Idiot's" range, then you probably know what I am going to write here! This book follows the same guidelines and classic structure of other Complete Idiots books in that it is sensible, informative and pretty complete. If you want to start pracising Yoga, then this is an essential first book. As with other Idiots books, this book explains everything starting from the very basics and working its way up to more advanced yoga. It is easy to read, well laid out and well structured. There are no complicated sounding instructions, or contorted looking pictures. Everything is sensible and do-able.There is a lot of useful and interesting information both about yoga, and how to practice yoga in this book. The only thing I would perhaps liked to have seen a few more of, was pictures of actual people peforming the postures. Although there is a good sprinkling of black and white photographs throughout the book, I did find these more useful that some of the illustrations that were drawn for some of the exercises. The illustrations were perfectly clear though, and this is just my personal preference. The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Pilates Method by Karon Karter for example(and which I thought was excellent) contains mostly photographs of this nature, so I guess I assumed this book would be the same. However, this is only a minor detraction from an otherwise good all-rounder. I would recommend it.
