Product Description

Product Description
Get ready for thrills, intrigues, mystery and piracy all set in Tudor England and featuring a young man named Will Shakespeare..."I'd give anything for a good horse right now..." says young Will Shakespeare. When Will gets mixed up in poaching, his father sends him away from Stratford in a band of travelling actors. On the outskirts of London, a fierce storm forces them to take refuge at the house of Doctor Dee - Queen Elizabeth I's astrologer. While there, they get caught up in a plot involving piracy, "magic" and the secret of the "Devil's Fire". This is another compulsive "it could really have happened!" adventure by the author of "Leonardo and the Death Machine."

About the Author
Robert J. Harris was born and raised in Scotland. He studied Greek and Latin at university and has had a varied career. He designed the best-selling fantasy board game Talisman and is also the author of numerous short stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Follow Up, 28 Jul 2007
This is a really good follow up to his Leonardo book. This is just as exciting and has bits that are really funny. Even if you don't care about Shakespeare you'll enjoy the swordfights and brilliant characters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another racing adventure from RJH, 19 Mar 2007
Why does Amazon have a review for Helen Dunmore's Ingo on this page?

Robert J Harris (that J lets you know this isn't the Archangel guy) pulls no punches in his second solo novel for young adults.

Young Shakespeare gets into a bit of trouble and has to get away from home for a while. He falls in with some travelling players and gets mixed up with assassination plots, pirates, explosions and even royalty.

This book ticks all the boxes: action, chases, mysteries and just a smattering of history and culture. The pace never lets up, leaving the reader pretty breathless. Most of the characters are male, but there's a good strong female character (can't say more without giving some plot away) who gives as good as she gets.

Will Shakespeare and the Pirate's Fire should appeal to confident readers from 9 upwards

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Action, 5 Aug 2007
When Will Shakespeare was a lad he ran away to join not the circus but the theatre. His acting troup visit the house of weird magician John Dee and Will manages to foil a plot which would have killed the Queen. Lots of fast-paced action for pre-teen boys.
