I fell in love with The Bone Doll's Twin when I first read that a year or so ago, and then the second book was just as good as - if not better - than that. I've been looking forwards to the finale ever since.

The plot took a fairly predictable course. There weren't many surprises there, though the way some of the characters are dealt away with was unexpected. Not everyone gets a dramatic and heroic death.

My biggest gripe with book three is that it truly did feel rushed in parts. I got an almost dizzying sense of having been rushed through some events too quickly. There feels like there's more there, and I found myself thinking that the series would have been better, and worked just as well, in a four book series. I also felt that there were a few chapters and places in the book that didn't actually really serve a point, and the book would have been just as good without. Not a major issue, since that was a minor occurance, but I did notice it. In other places, the writing did feel slightly forced.

As always, Flewelling's strength lies upon her characters, which are as wonderful as ever. I loved the relationship between Tobin/Tamir and Ki, and felt that the development of it was very believable.

This book was by no means a poor book, it just seemed that perhaps it wasn't written as well as it could have been in places. The plot is fairly simple, and the resolution resolved without too many complications. It's a shame I couldn't give it five stars, but the pacing of the book really did leave me feeling there should be "more", and that's a big shame - especially from this series' last book.

When I finished this book, I was sad, because I could happily have read lots more adventures with the same characters. Everything about this series was good: the plot, the well developed, interesting characters, the mix of drama and humour in the writing.

In my opinion, this series is up there with Robin Hobbs' Farseer and Tawny Man books. Original, character driven fantasy at its best.

I wont say what this book is about as that is pretty much summed up in the synopsis above, but i will say that this is amazing. The development of the characters is really good especially the relationship between Ki and Tamir. I waited a long time for this book and I was not disappointed, the only down side was at the end. Before the epilogue I thought there was at least one or two more chapters so i was quite surprised when it finished where it did. It left you wanting to know more about what happened in the future, although saying this the epiloge did explain some things. Fantastic book and while the ending was quite sudden this book still definitely deserves 5 stars.
