Well written with good attention to detail but very ambiguous, no real back story or even brief mention of events beyond the battles in the story. Will keep military geeks entertained for a couple of hours but Cold War interests will be left wanting. Ok if you can get it VERY cheap.

Having read numerous books in this genre (Russian offensives/aggression/war post second world war) I have to confess and say I was quite disappointed with this offering. Anyone who has read the RedGambit (5 books and counting) series will quickly realise that this book is lacking in pace, urgency and in some cases credibility. Yes it is an "interesting read" but is a long way from the many other classic novels available that cover a very similar scenario.

Military fiction is probably my favourite genre. This was an engrossing read. I have mentioned in other reviews that I tend to sleep on my daily commute, not whilst I had this book to read. Recommended.

Enjoyed this immensely. The characters were very good and the action seemed very real. There seemed to be an opening left for a sequel and I look forward to it

I loved it. An interesting look at reservists and the home front. It seemed realistic and gritty through out. Really hope the auther does more war books/

Good read especially if you served at the time. Ending a little to shallow but the train journeys went quickly whilst reading it.

Short but sweet. Enjoyable story from start to finish. Would have enjoyed reading a more fleshed out version. Still enjoyable.

Fascinating to look back at what might have been but which we thankfully avoided. There but for the grace of God go I.

A good read not over techy though and some good people stories though abrupt ending a lot of loose ends.
