The Dreamboats and Petticoats juggernaut shows no sign of slowing down with the release of the latest volume - Teenagers In Love. Released just before Valentine's Day, this is a cannily-themed compilation which I'm sure Universal are hoping will be the ideal present for love-struck sweethearts.

Although it's interesting to note that some of the songs highlight the darker side of love, such as Bobby Vee's "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" or Dion's "Runaround Sue", so pity the person that receives this as a Valentine's Day gift and is told to pay close attention to those songs.

Taken in isolation this is a first-rate compilation, although as many of the songs have featured on umpteen collections in the past, the question that the potential purchaser will have to ask is how many songs do they not own and are these songs strong enough to make this a must buy?

Various tracks from other Dreamboats compilations make another appearance here ("The Locomotion" and "Bobby's Girl" for example, both featured on the original release). Incidentally, given the Teenagers In Love theme I can't really understand why the Little Eva song is included, unless it's to appeal to train lovers.

But minor quibbles apart, there's plenty to enjoy here - big-hitters such as "When Will I Be Loved" by the Everlys, "Sealed With A Kiss" by Brian Hyland and "One Fine Day" by The Chiffons nestle alongside lesser-known tracks such as "Be My Girl" by Jim Dale, "Weekend" by Eddie Cochran and "Sailor" by Petula Clark.

In summary then, this is a very decent compilation that anyone should be happy to receive as a present - at any time.

This remains a significant and desirable series of yesteryear gems.
The late fifties and early sixties is an era of 'great-sounds' that those of us that
were there will not easily forget.
I've loved the compilation culture, a long list of familiar sounds from the artists
that so many of us remember with fondness, all on a couple of discs.
For collectors of the 'Dreamboat' series you will notice one or two numbers that
have been featured before, however this is a 'Theme' release, so I guess it's
acceptable.
I would again point out that as is usually the case, there are again a few 'B' sides
which as it happens do fit in with the 'Teenager in Love' theme.
The music on board this 2-CD compilation is a collection of 'gems' which when
playing , you'll be singing along to. (so many great memories)
I'll just highlight some of the notable tracks on each of the two discs...............
on disc one....'Cliff and the Shadows' --'I Love You'...'Adam Faith' --'How about
That'...'Bobby Vee' --'The Night Has a Thousand Eyes'...'Dion' --'Runaround Sue'
...'Eden Kane' --'Well I Ask You'...'Joe Brown and the Bruvers' --'That's What
Love Will Do'....'Duane Eddy' --'Because They're Are Young'...and...'Mark Winter'
--'Venus in Blue Jeans'.......just a few of the memories included on disc one....
on disc two...'Connie Francis' --'The Crystals' --'Then He Kissed Me' ...'Petula
Clarke' --'Sailor'...'Brenda Lee' --'Sweet Nothin's'...'Sandie Shaw' --'Long Live
Love'...'Leslie Gore' --'It's My Party'...and...'Twinkle' --'Terry' ......again just
highlighting a few of the great sounds on board disc two......to give a flavour
of the great numbers to enjoy on this release I've picked half a dozen or so
tracks from each disc, it is again a collection of singers and their songs many
of us treasure from those early years of 'Rock and Pop'
I have to say this continues to be a very collectable series of memories, there
are of course a whole lot of great sounds they have yet to release.
Check it out.....sing along and enjoy.
(in response to an earlier reviewer, 'Petula Clarke's' song 'Sailor' was in the
U.K. chart for 15 weeks, topping the singles chart for 1(her first number 1 '1961')
(Eddie Cochran's song 'The weekend' charted at number 15, staying in the U.K chart
for 16 weeks 1961, he'd had hits with better tracks than this, I suspect this one
stayed around for a while because of his tragic death some 9 months earlier)
(Jim Dale's 'Be my Girl' reached number 2 in the U.K chart in 1957, chart weeks
again 16 (I wasn't a follower of his music to be honest but never-the-less, it was a hit)

The music never dates for me and this latest album rekindles those wonderful heady days of the sixties with all its highs and lows.

Great cd, prefer disc two. But you will always get some records that you don't care for. Disc two has
great records one after the other which are all my favourites.
