David Rodigan is known mainly as the champion of Reggae but this CD goes through loads of genres which just show his complete knowledge of music. Any album that can kick off with The Kinks & have various artists in-between like Etta James, The Small Faces, Desmond Dekker & also reggae greats like Freddie McGregor, Tarrus Riley, Lee Scratch Perry. This cd also has Amy Winehouse covering a Specials track. Also this has one of the best tracks of last year Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra featuring Bitty Mclean singing Fu Man Chu.
You do not only need to like reggae to enjoy this. This is a must for all proper/ real music fans.

There is nothing wrong with the music.

HOWEVER if you are buying the vinyl version, beware, it is not the cd version spread over 6lp's but is actually 6x 7" singles featuring 12 tracks from the cd version.

The singles are:

01

Alton Ellis - Black Mans Pride
Bob Andy - Life

02

Brent Dove - When The Sun Goes
Cornell Campbell - Harry Hippy

03

Bessie Banks - Go Now
The Yardbirds _ For Your Love

04

Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra - Fu Man Chu
Lloyd Charmers - Colour Him Father

05

Marcia Griffiths - Stepping Out Of Babylon
Johnny Osbourne & The Sensations - See and Blind

06

Busy Signal - Modern Day Slavery
King Tubby & Johnny Clarke - Knock Out Punch

This is an Intetesting treble cd set for the reggae fan with some oddities thrown in, it's worth the money just for the astonishing find of the " Paul scubi smith" track " word smith" . Wow, pay for the cd just for this, just as you think there's nothing new and exiting in reggae this appears . Also Ini kamozoe track - England be nice is mind stirring stuff, some real gems in the mix for your collection .

Important collection that consists of Ram Jam's faves.... Don't expect back to back dancehall as this is not what Rodigan aimed for.
This is a refection of the records David loves and from the artists he admires.
