A great Printer that is truly Multi-Functional. This is the 4th Brother printer in our house.

Brother gives me the impression of a quality company trying to provide a good product at a reasonable cost without using too much expensive ink and having built in obsolescence, but there are a few problems. The machine came with instructions to register the product with brother.ie where you had to create an account. Not only is the regisration rejected (the device is outside warrantee period) but with an irish account you can't register the product in the uk via the internet - you have to ring up. Don't use any of the various telephone numbers on the documentation and elsewhere they either don't work or are premium numbers. The best contact number at present is 0333 777 444 where after a couple of simple choices you will be talking to a polite and helpful advisor. First class access.

In general the set up for Windows and Mac seems pretty straightforward but are not bomb proof BUT for Linux there were no instructions and the blogosphere not particularly detailed accurate or helpful. Help at Brother is good starting at http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/linux/en/index.html but downloading and installing the recommended drivers (brscan4-0.4.2-1.i386.deb dcpj152wlpr_3.0.0-2_i386.deb OR dcpj152wlpr-3.0.0-1.i386.rpm) gave me only scanning and USB printing. It took 3 days to get wireless capability. I think I am not so clever!!

I think I did this in the end.

Machine: Lenovo B570 OP Linux Mint13
Complete DCP-J152W set up as in 'Quick Set Up Guide' which comes with machine upto and including 'One-push set up using WPS or AOSS' on Page 19. The printer should now print out either 'Connection: OK' or an Error Message (TS-01 to TS-08) if it has not been made. If TS-07 try the set-up sequence again making sure the router has functional AOSS capability (a button on the front or rear of the router and it is within direct sight of the printer) and is pressed for several seconds.

Once the connection is OK, with USB cable connected, on the computer Desktop go to System>Administration>Printing>Printers> + Add > Network Printer (wait for a few seconds for required printer drivers to be identified) Select Brother DCP-J152W(BRW3C77E643660E,192.168.1.66) where 192.168.1.66 is the IP Address of the printer. In Connections select 'IPP network printer via DNS-SD' when a set of screens searches for drivers finally arrives at 'Select printer from database', Go through the listings to identify the model and install the appropriate driver. Go back to Printing>printers. Select Properties>Device URI for the two printers installed, they should be:
usb://Brother/DCP-J152W?serial=BROK3F476373 the original installation from the website which gives USB printing only and
dnssd://Brother%20DCP-J152W._ipp._tcp.local/ which gives USB and wireless printing

Were it not for the above 5 stars but in the event only 4 stars - I hope this helps

I'm glad I bought this as it's quiet and quick. I had an HP printer before this one but refilling the print cartridges was a pain, the Brother DCP-J152W works well with the ColourDirect compatible ink cartridges at about £14 for 12, just remember to load the original cartridges first then after that you will be able to use the cheaper cartridges which work great. You get a full set of four Original cartridges with this printer and the set up is straight forward, just load the drivers, put in your Wi-Fi code and away you go. For the money it's a good printer.

Fast, good quality printing and the scanner is great to use. Definitely seems an improvement so far over my previous Epson printer.

I have had this Brother now for a good few months I was so impressed that I got 2 one for me and one for my wife to be I have looked at some of the reviews one says that the refills or expensive may be they have never had other printers if you check out on amazon they or very good value the printer works very well I have my lap top in one room and printer in the other room and works well to send remote messages to it prints well in black and white and colourer
yes has some has said tuck me a bit of time to set up as well but thinking of it now it was that if I had red the info propyl it would have been better so when it came to set my second Brother up it tuck a lot less time
so at the end of the day you cannot go wrong with the brother range

After some work finding a suitable driver for Ubuntu, it works well as a printer and as a photocopier.
Have not yet got it working as a remote scanner, but that's Linux for you.
Ink is expensive and warranty carries dire warnings about not using genuine ink.

I can now print from any device in the house, which was my original objective. I don't use any Microsoft products so cannot comment on the windows drivers or facilities

This is a really good WiFi Printer for the money, it is easy to set up and works well, both as a printer and scanner from my PC's with the WiFi link only. I found the best type of photo paper it will take is 180g/m2 which works well.
It also works well from my iPad using the Brother iPrint & Scan app, both the printing and scanning are very good..
One little item I don't like is it has drawn two pieces of paper through at times when I have put new paper in and the remaining paper from the previous batch on top to use first. I found this happened with the last Brother printer too.
