After the first 6 or 7 episodes the plot seems to lose all sanity but it's TVD and you can't not watch it. If only to hope that at some point Elena and Damon will get together.

Not the best season but I think we're all hoping it will lead onto greater things for Season 5.

At the time I bought it, it was a great price and you do get the UV copy if you have any particular favourite episodes you can pop them on a portable device and have TVD wherever you go.

I was very impressed with the gripping cure storyline and I understand that Elena would change due to the vampirism but to say her love for Damon has been magnified and not her love for Stefan didn't make any sense to me and Damon isnt as badass as he used to be have to say I have major love for Klaus now and am losing the will to live with Elena as a vampire so I was very happy when the originals was announced still a great show and how stefan and elena ended it wasnt emotional enough for me I was very disappointed with how emotionless it was after being so in love however I still adore the show and hope it will pick back up again in the future just my opinion but this was the worst season so far

More intense emotion as the troubled love triangle enters a turbulent new phase. Now a vampire, Elena is in freefall, out of control. Brothers Stefan and Damon unite (much of the time anyway) in their frantic bid to track down THE CURE. Meanwhile fresh threats abound from old enemies and at least one formidable new foe.

Well done, all, who coped with every twist! Ages ago I gave up fully trying to understand (relieved when, in an earlier season bonus, key members of the cast openly admitted they had lost track). As ever, it is simply a case of sitting back and enjoying the ride, as the charismatic leads press onwards amidst spectacular special effects.

Extra confusion reigns with so much coming back from the dead, some characters too much alike, ancient Silas able to adopt the guise of anybody else. Meanwhile Nina Dobrey continues impressively to double up as Elena and Katherine, scenes where they are together a veritable tour de force.

Absurdities abound. Who would have it otherwise! Best not to question. They simply do not seem to matter amidst all that is going on. Seeking primarily to entertain fans of the genre, the series does exactly that. (A reservation, though, over incidents showing Elena at her worst - attacks on innocent people trying to help her just plain nasty, a step too far.) By the way, a word of praise for easily overlooked nice, loyal Matt - he still a human, which is pretty good going in Mystic Falls.

23 episodes. Interesting bonuses include details of how Jeremy acquired his tattoos and how Nina Dobrey managed to cope with this season's extra challenges. The box set contains helpful episode summaries and a list of the main cast, this information always appreciated.

Roll on, Season 4, with yet more sizzling passion, menace and shocks guaranteed to make the mind whirl!

I've always been a huge fan of the Vampire Diaries, and when I saw that Elena was becoming a vampire at the end of the last season, I was a little skeptical of how this season would work. I admit, it has to be the best season yet! I don't think the cast of The Vampire Diaries get enough credit for their acting... Nina Dobrev especially who has to portray (particularly in this season) all the different versions of Elena, as well as her doppelganger Katherine, and make sure that both characters are still unique! I found myself on the edge of my seat at the end of each episode, unable to wait to see the next one... you can imagine my disappointment when I ran out of episodes to watch. Cannot wait to start watching the next season!

Now Elena finally is a vampire and ALL her best friends are helping here get through this. She's having a hard time first and giving all the others a hard time, too, until she succeeds to get along. The story itself is thrilling as Elena and her friends are surchng for the cure to turn vampires back to humans. I won't reveal the end, but it has some unexpected surprises as well as sad and romantic outcomes. There are new characters coming up, and not at all nice ones as well. I can recommend Season 4 to everybody who watched Seasons 1-3 and I am looking forward to Season 5, you just have to know what is going on after watching this.

Only people that love this series would buy it, so what more can I say. Not quite sure what direction the script writers can go in now as surely every possible direction has been explored. Shame they had to finally give in and let Elena fall in love with Damon and out of love with Stefan - part of the big appeal for this programme was her unshakable love for Stefan and the smoldering will it, won't it with Damon. Also a big shame that Klaus and Caroline don't get together, that would be explosive - now it won't because the originals are going to have their own show.

I have been an admirer of this series since Season 1. I cannot fault it for interesting twists and turns and character development.

My only concern is that it will end up becoming another "Supernatural" which I gave up on after Season 4 as it became more and more ridiculous.

I am pleased Vampire Diaries got a Season 5 but I would like to see it finish or at least wrap things up in Season 6 or with a mini-series and end on a memorable high rather than fade into obscurity, or worse absurdity.

Season 4 was as exciting as expected. There are werewolves, hybrids, vampires and witches - all the things that we have come to expect from the Vampire Diaries thrown together with more supernatural elements to create an edge of the seat atmosphere. The mystery of the love triangle continues to enthral and captivate as the viewer changes camp so many times you end up grateful it isn't you that has to choose between Stephen and Damon ( she does choose eventually). Overall fantastic cant wait for season 5.

I love the Vampire Diaries and the stories just keep on getting weirder. We seem to have strayed away from vampires itself and going into immortality and cures for vampirism. There is the usual tension between Damon, Stefan and Elena and with Elena now vampire she seems to be harder. Although the storylines keep changing you can still keep up but you have to watch everyone or else you will miss something. Keep it coming.
