After owning this microphone for a while, i thought it would be worth a review.

Pros:

- Compact form factor. They've managed to fit an incredibly good condenser microphone and stand in a small box for a great price here. It fits excellently on my desk.

- Sound quality. After using both IM applications and also music production software, i've found the microphone can deal with both voice instruments very effectivley. Very good for acoustic instruments.

- Price. It may seem a bit expensive, but for the quality of the product it is worth it. Stellar build quality, great sound and a great size. All of these make it worth the full price.

Cons:

- The red light always being on is somewhat irritating, but thats how picky im having to be about con's for this microphone.

Just got my Snowball ice today, The only diffrence between this and the normal snowball is the no option for the omni-direction, But as i'll be recording solo which is Cardiod i wont need the other feature also good for voice overs ext, Also very good for recording instruments. Really easy to set up and use. The Sound is incredible it's HD and just supperb has a nice rich tone also note it's a condensor mic too if your not bothered about the other features which a Snowball has and your going to be recording only ever one person this is a great purchase and your saving your self $50 :)

I'd recommed buying a pop filter which are really cheap and help enhance your recording by removing Popping and harsh sounds. Also to keep your Mic's Diaphragm clean from plosives

This is an absolutely easy microphone to set up, no trouble! It works with windows 8, just plug it in and it will detect it. The hand books are very helpful and easy to understand. You can adjust it up and down not side to side. If you're looking for a slightly better model that will last you longer than go for the normal Blue Snowball. The ice is made of plastic(The stand)but the normal one has a metal stand. It has a USB plug - in and will work with any computer and even for iPad! ***** quality

I got this microphone after replacing my old headset that was falling apart, to be clear I use this microphone while I use my computer and talk to friends.

I use skype regularly with friends who find the audio quality better than amazing, the only problem that I had this the microphone is that it is just too sensitive to noise so I've had to turn the microphone volume.

The snowball's stand is stable but can get in the was if your desk is cluttered. I bought a pop filter to go this the microphone but found that the snowball's filter is more than enough, unless your planning to be spitting at it. :)

The size of the microphone can be a problem if your trying to place it in front me but can be placed to the side to remove the obstruction of the microphone.

Overall I would recommend this microphone to anyone needing a semi-cheap and very good quality microphone.

I have been looking at this microphone for a while, but was put of by reports of connectivity issues with Windows 8.
Well, I decided to take a punt on it, I needn't have worried, worked straight out of the box with no drivers to install, I am using Windows 8.1.

The most important aspect, sound quality, is fantastic with this mic, i've used it for a couple of youtube videos so far and on Steam.
Playing BF4 on Steam the first thing my friend mention was how clear my voice sounded. My pc is in the living room and background noise is usually quite high with 2 kids running about, but other reported the only thing they could hear was my voice.

Highly recommended piece of kit, sounds amazing, looks great and is well built to boot.

I've used a few different USB condenser style microphones I the past including some from Samson and had never had much luck. The blue microphone was a product that I bought for a class I was teaching in school. I bought a couple of them for my students to carry out a podcasting class, mainly due to the price of the microphone and some good reviews I had read. The microphone comes in a well packaged box complete with a nice screw on stand and a high quality USB lead as well as instructions. You probably won't need the Instructions though as its so simple to plug it and and play straight out of the box. I used mine with a MacBook Pro retina, IMac and also an older MacBook Air. The microphone worked straight away with all the devices using GarageBand and Logic Pro. The mono recordings are fantastic and clear with a decent amount of depth to them. We used vocals only for our project and when used in the right environment I.e somewhere you can dampen Natural reflections and echo the microphone performs to an outstanding level for the price. I have used this for a radio showreel for an FM radio station. The showreel sounded clear and vibrant when used with a pop shield (purchased on Amazon for a few pounds) and I got the job. So it can't be all that bad.

The design of the microphone is a little plastic in parts and can feel a tad bit cheap in parts but not overly cheap. Bare in mind the price and the that fact that it is made of plastic and not trying to be metal or any other material. It looks modern and classy and looks awesome next to apple products (apple have been selling these microphones for years and they were happy with them). The small but stable stand is cool with an aluminium look finish and over all I'm really happy with what I got for the price.
