For once words fail me ! I cannot believe that anyone would hire the much talented Michel Legrand to write such lovely arrangements and then at the last minute dub such awful vocals over the arrangements and hope to get away with it. There is not one good vocal performance on the entire album. Even the much over-rated and witless eccentricity of Jamie Cullum ( you know, the guy who thinks it's cool to jump up and down on the piano keyboard with his shoes on and thinks he looks good) sounds trashy and completely out of his depth on the first track.

This album could have been fabulous with the right vocalists or at least a singer that could sing in key. Totally pointless recording apart from the brilliant orchestral backing of Michel Legrand. A very disappointing CD and one to avoid this holiday.

To have tracks by Rufus Wainwright and Teddy Thompson on this album is fantastic. The rest of the album is ok - can't wait to play this when the snow is falling!

For the first few seconds of this album, I was delighted. It combined Michel Legrand's talent for big band arrangement with his ability to deliver beautifully lush charts for strings. Unfortunately, the album is ruined by most of the singing performances, many of which sounds as though they were an after thought, and quite a few of which appear to have been conceived in a different key to the arrangement they are playing against. What should have been a terrific celebration of Christmas with a uniquely French feel was turned into an album that I have played once and never again. Perhaps the kind of singers who would have worked best on an album of this sort are simply no longer around. Whatever, this is sadly one to avoid.

Excellent ensamble of songs, really good sound. It really puts you in the right ambiance for the festive season. Enjoy!

I played this once and put it in the "never again" drawer. Gutless uninteresting and pointless. If you like Mantovani you might like this.
