Not really much I can add to existing reviews, except to confirm that this is a great little product, IF you need it. Certainly cheaper than replacing an expensive HDMI cable that got broken by over-enthusiastic bending round corners...

If you have a free standing TV with loads of space around, then save your money. But if you want to wall-mount your super-slim flat screen, or fit it snugly into a TV unit, and the sockets are just in the wrong place, then this little beauty could be a life-saver.

As the AmazonBasics name suggests, all you get is a cardboard box with the adaptor in it - no instructions required! There are two swivel hinges, at 90 degrees to each other, so you can turn whatever corner you need to, to connect your TV socket to HDMI cable. Connectors are gold and everything seems to fit snugly. Hinges are sturdy and 'tight' enough that the adaptor stays how you have twisted it.

AmazonBasics is an excellent range of products from Amazon which are well made and good value. I have used a number of their cables and cases and found them far from "Basic"!

This little HDMI adaptor could prove invaluable in a confined TV setup, if you are wall-hanging a flat-panel or have equipment in cabinets this little swiveller could help to access the previously inaccessible HDMI sockets. Amazon's illustrations demonstrate how the adaptor swivels in two planes and on my laptop the illustrations appear almost life-size.

In fairness, most people will get by without one of these but if you need one this will be a five star product and I will rate it as such for innovation, quality and value.

The other positive reviews are spot on but after fitting this and measuring the space saving feature it protruded 45 mm from the back of the wall mounted TV. The HDMI cable by itself with the radiused bend was 70mm. In my case I still had enough space behind the wall mounted bracket and the 25 mm saved was not really needed.
The plus point is that the cable is much easier to disconnect and reconnect if you need to do this.
I connected a Humax Freeview HD T2 PVR which is very prone to HDMI handshaking problems. (this is the ability to re-connect HDMI after switching between other AV inputs.
I had no problems with this device.

Well this is a nifty little piece of kit, make no mistake. As soon as I saw it I thought it was certainly worth a try and while, in the end, it wasn't that useful for me, I think it will still be quite a space saver for other people with different set-ups.

The reason it didn't work for me is because the only place I can use it at the moment is in the back of my PS3. While it would reduce the gap between the console and the wall (probably by about half an inch which doesn't sound like much but I can imagine it making a big difference to some people), unfortunately in my setup, the console power cable stops me taking advantage of the space saved. It might be more useful for people trying to plug cables into wall mounted flat screen televisions but as mine is in the corner of the room, I have loads of room behind it.

The adapter itself is bigger than I thought it would be (I knock off half a star here, I imagine it could be made to take up even less space). It is quite nifty, though. As you can probably tell from the picture, it folds in half but what you might not that noticed is that the end that would plug into your console/television/whatever also rotates within itself so it is easy to use whether the HDMI socket you're plugging into is horizontal or vertical. My only gripe here is that unlike when it folds in half, when it rotates it doesn't quite make it to a ninety degree angle (and there's the other half a star I docked off). I don't see how it would have been hard to make it go to ninety degrees and that would probably save quite a bit more space.

This adapter, however, is still a great bit of kit and I'd recommend it to anyone who has had to have their TV sticking out from the wall further than they would like because of cables. Mine isn't a lot of use to me at the moment but I'll hold on to it, I'm sure I'll find a use for it in the future!

The HDMI Male to Female Swivel Adapter is handy if you have a TV mounted quite close, or flush to the wall but have large protruding HDMI cables needing to go to the back of the TV. This adapter allows you to make a 90 degree angle cutting down on the actual plastic that protrudes from the TV dramatically, but still allowing you to use the HDMI cable.

I should also point that the tip of the connection also swivels allowing for further adjustment. Luckily once the adapter is adjusted, it is prone to staying in one place and it is not too loose so that the weight of the cable steers it into the opposite direction - it certainly holds it shape well.

It's also worth noticing that there is no loss of quality in using one of these adapters, and without getting into an argument about expensive HDMI cables being better, since the signal is digital I cannot see how using a device such as this would have any adverse effects on picture or sound quality - after all the signal is either there or its not - there is no middle ground.

I now own a good selection of cables, cases and adapters from the Amazon Basics range and I am unable to say a bad word about them - despite being referred to as basics, they are more often that not of much higher quality than similar priced products from other more well known brands. Highly recommended.

This is a great little adaptor which allows you to plug you HDMI cable into a device (such as a TV) when it might not otherwise be possible. The adaptor swivels up down, left and right so that the HDMI cable can be plugged in at 180 degrees, or indeed a variety of other angles. The gold plated ends seem to transmit signal well and I've not had any drop in quality whilst using this.

This adaptor is perfect for those who have HDMI sockets on the side of their TV and want to have the cables entering from behind (as it were) so that they aren't visible, or for those who have devices which have to be pulled quite a distance from the wall so that the cables can be plugged in. I have an issue in that latter category and this gizmo has helped: The HDMI cable I use from by Blu-Ray player to the telly is very thick and not very flexible. As a result, my TV stand has to be pulled quite a bit back from the wall to accommodate the large `loop' of cable which sticks out of the back of the TV - but with this adaptor I can push the stand against the wall as the monster cable effectively plugs in from the side now.

In a nutshell: Perhaps a bit pricey, but there's no doubting that for some this is an excellent and simple solution.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I have a flat screen TV on my bedroom wall and it's fixed with a slimline bracket, meaning standard HDMI plugs won't fit due to the space.

Even if I really bent the plug it would strain the socket and I'd have to remove the TV to take the cable out - being in the bedroom nothing is permanently attached so I don't want the cable hanging there - but I do want to attach my computer every now and again.

That's where this bendy, flexible plug works for me. It rotates in all directions meaning I can plug the HDMI in and out from the side with relative ease. The cable I have is also quite stiff and the articulated connection makes it easy to position where I want it. From my Mac the sound and video are great - no noticeable drop in quality at all.

The only word of caution is that if your gap is really tight for space then a fixed right-angle connector or cable with a right angle plug at one end might be more suitable as they are much smaller than this is. This is due to the left/right articulation which also carries another note of caution - it doesn't quite do right-angles if that's what you need (the up/down does).

At less than 3 inches long from tip to tip this little adaptor doesn't look very impressive, at least until you start to bend it to shape and you realise what a marvellous thing it really is. Obviously, if you have plenty of room for your HDMI connections then you'll have no need for this adaptor, but next time you find that there is more strain on your cable than you're happy about, or when you can't seem to make your connector fit properly because of a tight angle or lack of space then remember where you saw this because you'll realise it's just what you need.
I've tested it with different brands of cable and found that the gold plated connectors fit nicely with them all, and there's been no noticeable difference in the quality of the picture or sound from using it either. The main pivot point can move in both directions to form a right angle, and the smaller pivot near the male connector (nearest to your TV etc) also moves in both directions but not quite to such an degree. Excellent.

As with other Amazon Basic items, the cardboard packaging makes opening and getting going with the device a breeze. Its far nicer than most of that plastic packaging and recyclable too!

Of the device itself, Its small and simple, a great little gadget. Instead of having to physically bend a HDMI cable around a tight space and into a inconveniently placed socket you can use one of these to do it for you. This really helped for my set up at home where the cable kept on falling out, I'm sure it'll reduce the chances of damaging the cable by excessive bending too!

At £13.58 I'm not too sure I'd be willing to whip out my wallet for this item all the time as it costs just as much as many HDMI cables but if you have a situation where your HDMI cable is bent at 90 degrees at the back of your TV etc, then this device might be worth the investment to reduce the headaches of bad connections and replacing cables in the long run.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I bought this because i had a small minor problem with my HDMI cable for my blu-ray. The problem was that the HDMi cable couldn't reach the tv it was 2 inches too short. When this came on Amazon, i snapped it up straightaway. It came in a box neatly and carefully packaged. I sorted it in the tv sort and connected my hdmi cable to it and bingo, it all worked beautifully. Flat Tv can be complex especially when it comes to HDMI cables but this took that stress from the problem effectively. It just slots in and away you go, enjoying the crystal clear picture that HDMIs provide or in the case of 3DTVs a crystal clear in your face picture. Great gadget and perfect for those awkward areas when you cant get the angle you want. The AmazonBasics HDMI swivel adapter stands proudly among the best of the adapters and deserves to be in your decision on what adapter will be right for you and your TV, Game console or Bluray player.
