This box set is basically a bundle of two Blu-Ray packages.

Life [Blu-ray][Region Free] - 4x BD50 Blu-Ray disks, approx 585 mins runtime. The disks and the packaging of Life in this box set are identical to the standalone product.

Planet Earth: Complete BBC Series [Blu-ray] - 5x BD25 Blu-Ray disks, approx 550 mins runtime. The disks are identical to the standalone product, but in boring blue packaging (as opposed to the beautiful fold-open packaging for the standalone product).

There are no DVD disks in this box set (despite the "DVD Video" logo printed on the bottom-right of the outer cardboard box).

Every self respecting person should own a copy of this set. As more and more of the earth is developed, there may come a time when we have to resort to series such as these to appreciate how amazing the earth is/was. If we do come to such a time, thank the heavens that you have Sir David Attenborough narrating this to you.

It's likely you've seen at least some episodes of the BBC's groundbreaking documentaries; Life and Planet Earth on TV. However, watching them on Blu-Ray is a whole new experience and what a jaw-dropping spectacle it is. Both video and audio are outstanding, it's easily one of the best Blu-Ray transfers available, I'd put it up there with Blade Runner or Star Trek and consider it reference quality.

The natural world has never been filmed in such detail, from the vast panoramics of the Himalayas to the darkest depths of the ocean, viewing land marks from space to near microscopic invertebrates, these documentaries have got it all covered.

The score is a perfect complement to what's happening onscreen and always adds to the atmosphere, whether it's raising the pulse during an explosive chase or stiring emotions to convey many epic and virtigo-inducing panning shots.

It's worth noting I own Planet Earth on DVD and this Blu-Ray set is superior in every way bar one; you don't get the 'making of' documentaries at the end of each episode. They really should have included these, even if they were only standard definition but forget about them, the trade off is more than worth it. This set will entertain, enthral and educate you in equal measure - simply put - this deserves to be in everyone's collection.

This compilation shows the clear benefits of Blu ray. The whole series (both of them) are stunning in hi def. The cost of the two sets in this compilation represents great value for money. If you like Natural History and the eminent narration of David Attenborough then you won't be disappointed!

2 of the greatest Wildlife series the BBC ever made together in one cheap boxset.

There are no extras, but at this price who's complaining?

21 x 50 minute episodes, but make sure you get the Blu-Ray version for the stunning High Definition Picture Quality.

Wildlife Photography doesn't get any better than this.

Very, very highly recommended.

Superb.

Honestly: I bought these to show off a new telly/bluray combo. Perfect. The picture is what HD is all about. The series is really addictive. It still leaves my wide-mouthed and dribbling. This sets the benchmark for HD and nature. The only reason to pass is the risk it will show up everything else you watch as paler in comparison.

We put these on now and again to watch, and every time they never cease to amaze, with the picture quality, the narrative and the in-depth knowledge each one exudes, pleased with this boxed set ... goes and stays in my collection ...

Once again have Great Britain and the BBC given us a great nature show.

The Planet Earth & Life series are the best nature documentaries (apart from David Attenborough's series)I have ever seen. Each and every one of the episodes are breathtaking and beautiful. And it gets even better on blueray. It actually looks better than in real life (If thats a good thing or not?). No movie can beat nature when it commes to majestic beauty and brutal reality and the team behind Planet Earth & Life have captured it in the best way so far.
