The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack of "Good Morning, Vietnam" is exactly what you would expect it to be, a combination of Robin William's maniacal spiels as DJ Adrian Cronauer and some great music from the Sixties. The result is something not too far removed from what it would have been like to listen to Armed Forces Radio in the 'Nam way back when. The only thing missing are the announcements for staff sergeant so-and-so to check in with his command post A.S.A.P. The songs included here are not exactly what you would classify as anti-war songs, although certainly there is something ironic about "Nowhere to Run," "Liar, Liar" and "What a Wonderful World" in the context of the Vietnam War. There is also a nice mixture of big names, such as James Brown and the Beach Boys, with lesser known artists, like The Searchers, The Rivieras and Them. This actually gives this album a nice sense of authenticity because these are not wall to wall classic hits like we had with the "Forrest Gump" soundtrack. Of course you are going to get tired of William's comedy long before you want to stop listening to the music. The only question is when, but since we can program CDs to skip what we want, this is not going to be a major consideration. However, for all you Drew Carey fans, if you do not already have it, here are The Vogues doing "Five O'Clock World."

This is not a review as such but Amazon although have listed the tracks they have not said which artist perform them.
Also the tracks are interspaced with Robin Williams as Adrian Cronauer who gives the introductions from the film.

You can actually programme his intros out and just listen to the music if you like (or even just listen to Robin's Intros!!)

There is no overlap on the tracks (imagine Radio One with the DJs having laryngitis!)

Here are the tracks with Williams as well
1. Adrian Cronauer - Robin Williams
2. Nowhere To Run - The Vandellas
3. I Get Around - Beach Boys
4. Game Of Love - Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders
5. Adrian Cronauer - Robin Williams
6. Sugar And Spice - Searchers
7. Adrian Cronauer - Robin Williams
8. Liar, Liar - Castaways
9. The Warmth Of The Sun - Beach Boys
10. Adrian Cronauer - Robin Williams
11. I Got You (I Feel Good) - James Brown
12. Adrian Cronauer - Robin Williams
13. Baby Please Don't Go - Them
14. Adrian Cronauer - Robin Williams
15. Danger Heartbreak Dead Ahead - Marvelettes
16. Five O'clock World - Vogues
17. California Sun - Rivieras
18. Adrian Cronauer - Robin Williams
19. What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong

This is the album with all the radio snippets added and it is excellent! I have always loved the film and for many years listened to the LP version of the soundtrack which had the radio vocals as well as the songs. Then a couple of years ago I bought the CD soundtrack and was very dissappointed to find it didn't have the radio snippets. Was very pleased to find this version which is the full length soundtrack with radio snippets (and no hiss and crackle of an LP!).

A great CD and one of my favourite soundtracks, a nice blend of some great 60's music and some funny clips from Robin Williams. The film itself isn't that great but I always enjoyed this CD. A shame from reading other reviews that the audio clips from Williams seem to have been removed on more recent releases; my copy is quite old now. I hope that is rectified at some point.

This is the Soundtrack to the film. the Music is mainly US Hits and from Circa 1965. There are lots of good tracks on this CD...Including Beach Boys Them James Brown and some of Adrian Cronauer's humour which is very irreverent.
If you have the film or want to buy it then you must get this CD as its good driving music. Recommend .

very good nostalgic reminder of the vietnam war days.Just a pity no Jimi Hendrix tracks, especially "Machine Gun" that summed up life for the ordinary GI in Vietnam in one extraordinary song.

Big fan of the film, big fan of the music and dialogue in the film and very much a big fan of Robin Williams - however put it all on one audio cd and the effect is dramatically reduced. It is a common problem that an evocative piece of music tied to a particular scene in a film does not have the same impact when it stands alone as track six on a soundtrack. Also the manic ad-libbing and spontaneity that almost sums up the persona of Robin Williams does not work for the same reason. Conversely, any cd that contains The Warmth Of The Sun by the Beach Boys is worth an extra star. Recommendation? Buy it but don't pay more than a fiver.....

If you have seen the film and love it, crank the volume right up and sit back. This CD has the Robin Williams voice overs from the film which I really love and play at max volume. The original sound tracks are brilliant and my brainwashed kids enjoy listening to it, or else.

A great cd. Robin Williams at his best doing hilarious crazy sketches between excellent 60's tracks like the Vogues' 5 o clock world and Rivieras' California Sun. Williams' character Mr Leo who does fashion for the army is my favourite.
