Confidence is such a tricky word to get your head around. When you're confident you don't bother to think about confidence; when you're not, it's difficult to know exactly how to get there. If you can discover confidence for yourself from any book, this is the one. Kate Burton and Brinley Platts start by usefully linking confidence to motivation and values. They then take a multi-pronged approach and deal with every aspect of being confident, from expressing your passion and stretching yourself mentally to physical and vocal confidence - in the work place, in romantic relationships and even social media. Like most `For Dummies' books, it's full of useful things to try, and tips to ease the way. There's a warmth in this practical book that convinces you that confidence is possible - for you - and that you have a friend walking beside you to help you on your way.

I've aleady recommended this book to several clients and friends...right from the start it captured my attention as it explored the definition of a pretty confident person I hadn't really thought about the definition before and the authors share the current definitions but also create one of their own...which led me to re-consider how confident I actually am!

The book is good at taking you step-by-step through a number of simple exercises that help you to move forward.Unlike other 'dummies' books it's encouraged me to read it all the way through rather than dipping in and out.I've also enjoyed taking part in the values exercises and using the questionnaires and checklists.

The tone of the book is caring and understanding so it's a pleasant read...I don't know if it's a feature of all 'dummies' books but there seems to be a lot of stuff at the beginning explaining how to use the book when I'd rather just get 'stuck in'! But I imagine for some people it's a useful guide.

The book covers a wide range of issues too - from the workplace to romantic relationships - and even how to use social media which apparently is still quite a scary thing for many people so I'm impressed with the wide scope of the areas covered. I think the book is a great tool for anyone lacking in confidence and self esteem - and even a useful boost and 'pick me up' for those of you that are pretty confident already! Confidence For Dummies

A book with a huge amount of information in it for its size, giving lots of different ways to start increasing your confidence - either in general or in specific areas.

I like the fact that you can start from the 'inside' - thinking about your values, motivations, what you want from life etc. to gain confidence in being happier and more certain about your choices, or on the 'outside' with practical things you can try doing to be more confident in your behaviours.

It is a book to read / dip in and out of as required over time with lots of exercises / ideas / practical tips to try out for size and see what works well for you.

This book is a must read for so many people! Mastering the art of living confidently and moving towards your perfect life usually requires most of your lifetime, oh that somebody had written this book many years ago!
Tucked away in this small volume are nuggets of pure gold - all easily accessible and with an emphasis on practical change and application. Great for a dip in to boost a flagging level of confidence - suitable to dive in for a complete confidence makeover! This book is an achievement in itself for it gives any reader many points of access to the information contained within it's pages, it's fun and so practical and down to earth. All I can say is make sure you read it.
