As I've come to expect from Carl Lee, the characters here are very easy to connect with which helps to place you in the scenarios within the story. The adventure unfolds in various locations which are described with enough detail to allow you to get an idea of what each place would be like. The events that take place draw the reader in and keep you wanting more. The whole story could easily be the plot of a brilliant film, with intense twists and turns, awesome "baddies" and a good level of darkness and suspense throughout.
Of course, there is a smattering of humour which adds a huge sense of realism but also keeps it quite light-hearted and easy to read.
