Both books are excellent resources but be warned you have to start with the authors sloper/block. Skipping, glossing over or judging even 1mm by eye will result in an accumulated "squiffiness" forcing you to start again. Choice of fabric is key and the patterns produce a somewhat "poufy" garment. A major letdown is the lack of a matching sleeve pattern.
Oriental and Western body shapes are quite different, adjustments for larger bust, broad backs are quite tricky to incorporate into the step by step buil up into the finished pattern and massively fiddly to do so on a finished patter. Nonetheless, an absolute must have set.
