Horror!: Films to Scare You to Death by Kim Newman

First, a slight word of warning: this book is effectively a 2nd Edition of an earlier book by the same authors, called 'Horror: The Definitive Guide to the Cinema of Fear'. However, even if you already have that book it's worth getting this one. Where the earlier book ended in 2005, this has been brought bang up-to-date to cover the best of the genre's offerings in more recent years (the last films to be looked at in detail are 2013's V/H/S and Mama). Other parts of the book have also been tweaked here and there to bring it up to date.

As for the book itself: I have read pretty much everything there is to read on horror films. I have "tried the lot", as it were. And… Read more
Catching Bullets: Memoirs of a Bond Fan by Mark Gatiss

Mark O'Connell makes much of his unusual status as a gay Bond fan, so appropriately enough his funny, extemely personal book is very much a love letter to all things 007. He also bolts the more autobiographical elements on to some sharp insights and observations of the individual films (presented in a refreshingly personal, rather than chronological, order) that will increase your appreciation of even the least-loved entries in the series (he's made me willing to give Moonraker another go after many years).

All in all, a great read that will make people like me feel that we are not alone in our lifelong Bond geekery, and for that I am very grateful!
Expert Shield - THE Anti Glare Screen Protector fo&hellip by Expert Shield
Getting the cover applied to the iPad screen bubble and dust-free can be described as "a right faff". This is no criticism of the product, but it took quite some perseverance and constant reminding myself why I couldn't afford to give up (i.e. cos my kids would be getting their mucky fingers all over the new iPad!). However, once it was applied (with only a handful of tiny bubbles that I can live with) this is brilliant. It doesn't detract from the performance of the touchscreen at all and reduces glare brilliantly (if you'll pardon the pun). Combined with a good-quality case, this is a top bit of protection for your iPad.
