5.0 out of 5 stars British and psycodelic, 23 May 2004
It's the first album (released 1967) from "Eric Burdon and the New Animals". I can recommend it and you should buy it and also the album "The Twain Shall Meet". The alum is British and psycodelic, but not as na´ve as the American hippies. It lasts for over 44 minutes and each minute is the best. It catches you right from the beginning. There are sitars, string instruments and sound effects. The New Animals covered "Paint It Black" from the Rolling Stones and it's very good. "The Black Plague" reminds on "hurt" from Johnny Cash. "Yes I Am Experienced" reminds on the Jimmy Hendrix Experience. It's All Meat is a beat song but with "fffuufff" effects. Most songs seem a bit sad. On Man - Woman… Read more

"The Twain Shall Meet" is perfect. I think it's the second album from the New Animals. It's very psychedelic, but it's still very British. It's not as naive as the American Hippies were.
It starts with the hymn on the festival in Monterey 1967. By the way, this album was recorded in 1968. It's harder than the others song. The second song is slower and has a beautiful melody. Closer To The Truth is a R'n'b song. Sky Pilot is against the American Government and against the war. We Love You Lil is a bit confused. The last song is All In One. There are many sitar parts on it and horns as well. I think it's the best, but Monterey is also quite good.
There are good lyrics on the whole… Read more

That's an excellent record. It's the first album of Amon Düül II. It's very psycodelic and confused. I love it. But it's not only psycodelic, it's also hard. Amon Düül, one of the best (Krautrock) bands. Maybe it's the best and maybe this is the best album.
I really recommend it.
