This is not only an insight into the life of Colin Pillinger but also how politics and vested interest can get in the way of those who just wish to increase human knowledge. Prof Pillinger has a no-nonsense, down to earth writing style - even when explaining the finer points of Mass Spectrometry - that would make this book easily accessible to non-scientists. There is also a lot of information about just how difficult it is to design and build an experiment then send it millions of miles across space to Mars.
Overall a very enjoyable read.
