I have read most of Melissa Hill's previous books and so I was really looking forward to sitting down with this one as I thought I knew what kind of read to expect...
I was so disappointed!
I really felt that the whole story was long and drawn out and I am sorry to say that I was totally bored in places.
In the first 100 pages there was a lot of very descriptive writing but it was pointless as hardly anything happened.
The reader was introduced to Darcy and her unremarkable life and then she accidentally knocked a pedestrian over while cycling to work ( yes,she is that dozey). After this event, the storyline does pick up but it was so long and drawn out that I lost… Read more

The front cover of this book screams "holiday reading" and I admit that this plus some favourable reviews made me add it to my summer reading list.
The content has been explained well in other reviews submitted.
I thought it was well written and really captured the passion/desire/obsession theme.The fact that it was set in a quiet corner of Majorca in the heat of the summer was a great help. Somehow, if it had been somewhere seedy with cold and miserable weather it would not have worked so well. I also read this in hot weather which may have clouded my judgment!

Usual DS format;- high achieving female character suffers personal tragedy but but by the end of the book everything is resolved and it's happy ever after.
In this case it was a bit over the top and we had multiple characters being paired off in rather a hurried ending!
Easy reading that does not require concentration but I am increasingly wondering whether the author is trying to set a record for the number of books she writes each year?
I got the chance to borrow this copy and I think that this review could apply to most books by DS as she relies on the same formula consistently. However, I still end up reading some of her novels each year so I can't be too critical… Read more
