The Lemon Grove by Helen Walsh
The Lemon Grove by Helen Walsh
The front cover of this books screams "holiday reading" and I admit that this plus some favourable reviews made me add it to my summer reading list.
The content has been explained in other reviews.
I thought it was well written and really captured the passion/desire/obsession theme. The fact that it was set in a quiet corner of Majorca in the heat of the summer was a great help. Somehow, if it had been somewhere seedy with cold and miserable weather it would not have worked so well. I also read this in hot weather which may have clouded my judgment!

3.0 out of 5 stars The usual format...., 21 July 2014
Usual DS format;- high achieving female character suffers personal tragedy but but by the end of the book everything is resolved and it's happy ever after.
In this case it was a bit over the top and we had multiple characters being paired off in rather a hurried ending!
Easy reading that does not require concentration but I am increasingly wondering whether the author is trying to set a record for the number of books she writes each year?
I got the chance to borrow this copy and I think that this review could apply to most books by DS as she relies on the same formula consistently. However, I still end up reading some of her novels each year so I can't be too critical… Read more

Initially I found I really had to concentrate as we are introduced to so many different characters at the start of ths book.
Found I had to keep flicking back to remind myself who was who.
However, once everything was clear I really did not want to put this book down and that was despite working out what the husbands secret was fairly early on!
This is compelling reading and highly recommended.
Don't be put off by the number of characters involved and the fact that the storyline occasionally jumps back to 1984.
It all makes sense in the end!
