20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
A collection of 15 short stories, originally published in 2007, from the pen of Joe Hill. I read the book five or six years ago and, while I didn't appreciate all of the stories, I was genuinely blown away by the scope of the subject matter and quality of writing.

What Hill does here is what his father has done for longer than I care to remember; he brings people and places to life and twists ordinary situations into the surreal. This is a blend of emotion/fantasy/horror and though visceral in places it's also subtle and understated. Nothing here scared me, nothing here was how I expected it would be, this isn't traditional horror writing though some of the characters and themes… Read more
Pop Art by Joe Hill
Pop Art by Joe Hill
Pop Art was originally published in the UK in 2005 and is one of the stories from 20th Century Ghosts; a horror anthology by Joe Hill. It appears more of the stories are being re - issued as Kindle singles. Might be in your interest to download the entire book if you're interested. Probably cheaper to do so.

Pop Art is extremely surreal to the point of absolute weirdness. It's the story of an unhappy, lonely boy who forms a deep friendship with another boy but; Art is far from usual.

The story is very short and took less than an hour to read. Is it a horror?. Pop Art has some contemporary horror elements worked in but it's not a horror in the traditional sense in fact… Read more
Hornby R768 00 Gauge Cows by Hornby Hobbies Ltd
Hornby R768 00 Gauge Cows by Hornby Hobbies Ltd
Husband bought this set of 10 cows, 2 different colour schemes, for our grandson's train set. They're perfectly to scale with all of his other bits and pieces but the paint effect is quite poor and they're clumpy to look at. Grandson isn't bothered but he's 3 and only interested in the trains whizzing round. Wouldn't buy again. If you have a large train set and are placing the cows somewhere not too obvious you probably won't notice. Up close - not great.
