We have really enjoyed watching each of these imaginative ballet productions with our daughter. It is a real treat for anyone who enjoys ballet, particularly those with children.
Five Sisters: The Langhornes of Virginia by James Fox
I found this book a very enjoyable read, with some interesting insights into life for Virginians and Britains at the turn of the last century. The Langhornes are fascinating sisters and the rises and falls in their lives make compelling reading. Nancy Astor's election campaign and experiences as the first MP in Parliament are particularly interesting, as is the lively storytelling about the lives of each sister. I read the book in about a week and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Disney Princess: How To Draw - Princesses by Disney
Whilst the concept is brilliant and has encouraged my 3 year old to use colouring pens, the guides to drawing are complex and better for older children. I had thought the guides might have been accompanied by stories about the princesses and perhaps outlines for children to colour in, but there are only short introductions to each princess with a guide on how to draw them accurately, as a cartoonist would. The stencils are all small objects that might relate to a princess, like a crown or a shoe, but no actual princesses, which again would have helped for younger children to feel they're drawing a princess!
