5.0 out of 5 stars Not just hippy antics, 20 May 2004
This book is one for those who are willing to be open minded and to learn from people who have become expert in regaining natural birth amongst their community. They are NOT taking drugs as is implied by one reviewer they merely call contractions 'rushes'. It is very inspiring. i think that one of the greatest gifts a midwife can give a woman in labour is her faith that every woman is capable of becoming a birth goddess in their own right.

This book was truly the most exciting account of a life in Midwifery. Myhusband bought the book for before I started my Midwifery training and itfilled me with excitemnet for what was to come. Once I started my courseit also did the rounds of everyone in my class who were also all full ofpraises for it after they had read it. Now that I have been doingMidwifery a while I often pick up this book when I am feeling particularlydown about the maternity services and midwifery and it nevers fails toremind me why I wanted to become a midwife and what the whole damn job isreally about. It is such a privilige.
