I got this book last week and decided to cook two dishes from it, for friends, for lunch on Saturday. I made the Persian Saffron and Mint Chicken with Spring Couscous (with a yogurt sauce) and the Mandalay Carrot Salad. They weren't within the same seasonal chapter but they went beautifully together. I'm a slow cook and I have to read the recipe over and over again to make sure I haven't gone off course, so it took me a while to prepare the lunch as there was a fair bit of chopping and prepping (and I had help from one of my friends), but it was more than worth it when we came to sit down and eat it (and actually, very enjoyable to take the time). 5.0 out of 5 stars To die for!, 24 July 2013
I've got the first Ginger Pig book so was delighted when the second one came out. They really know how to do meat..
I tried the Pulled Spicy Pork as it's one of my favourite things to eat at the moment and it was melt in your mouth delicious! So easy and so tasty - my fellow eaters were swooning in admiration - a reason to buy this book alone!
The book has the feel of a classic - simple design and some classic (mainly, but not exclusively) meat dishes. It's one of those books that I can imagine having for the rest of my life - that sounds dramatic but it's not faddy - it's definitely a stayer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Packed full of ideas, 18 Mar 2013
I've been doing the 5:2 diet for 10 weeks now and have been cooking the same 4 dishes for dinner during that time, so was in desperate need for a bit of new inspiration, new recipes. This is a concise well laid out book with 100 recipes for the faster! And they're far from boring.. things like Tamarind & Lemongrass Beef and Crab & Noodle Asian Wraps have caught my eye. The recipes are organised by the number of calories in each portion, so you can plan your day around them. There are also very useful planners with 4 weeks worth of suggestions for what to eat on each fast day. There are ideas and calories for snacks, which I don't need as I've been just eating breakfast and dinner on a fast… Read more
