Game of Thrones - Season 1-2 Complete [DVD] [2013] DVD ~ Sean Bean
5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping stuff., 31 Mar 2014
Excellent swashbuckling stuff, surrounding the battles by various noble families for the various thrones of the regions of the fictional Westeros, a country not unlike Medieval Britain.
Supernatural elements ie zombies called the White Walkers, dragons and the odd bit of sorcery are all woven into the plot, as the families struggle for power, make and lose allies and stab each other in the back.
Quite a lot of sex and violence - not for the easily offended.
All star cast, and a whole load of new unknowns - brilliant acting all round.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad., 31 Mar 2014
Not bad for the price, but the sleeves are a bit long, and I had to turn them up a bit. Also the pockets re on the small side, and the zip is a bit flimsy but it looks smart and it's about the right weight for a Spring jacket.
The Cuckoo's Calling (Cormoran Strike) by Robert Galbraith
4.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining., 31 Mar 2014
A mystery featuring the recently dumped war-wounded private eye Cormoron Strike.
A famous model's suicide may or may not have been a murder... Strike is hired to investigate, and delves into the not so glamorous world of the rich and famous.
I bought this because Galbraith is the nom de plume of J.K Rowling, and it has her typical style, just with a lot more swearing.
A very good read.
