So You Want to Play the Piano? by Melanie Spanswick
So You Want to Play the Piano? by Melanie Spanswick
This is a brilliant book and I just wish it had been available years ago.

It's a "must read" for those who are considering taking up the piano, parents whose kids are showing an interest in piano lessons and pianists in the early stages of learning.

Melanie has impressive credentials and clearly knows what she's talking about. She tackles the many diverse aspects of learning the piano; choosing a suitable instrument, selecting a properly qualified teacher, deciding which examination board to follow (if you want to take exams), and the amount of time you will need to dedicate to practising the exercises.

A great guide with lots of practical advice and… Read more

Decided this was a "must read" after all the hype and I was delighted that I could buy it in paperback.

However, by the time I got half way through, I became a little bored as the story line degenerated into unsatiable sex and I worried that they might both end up in wheelchairs!

As I neared the end, I feared that there wasn't going to be any ending to the story, and I was right. Still, there are 2 more books in the series, so perhaps the story line will pick up.

I enjoyed Christian Gray's confidence and resourcefulness, but even that became predictable.

In the end, a disappointment which is a shame, as it all started out so well.
