Bought as a gift along with a companion volume on Hieronymous Bosch, this is an excellent summary of the artist's complete work, consisting of clear reproductions on glossy art paper, with inserted details and explanatory notes.

As someone who lived around Leeds 6 over various periods from the 1970s to mid 90s I am very familiar with all the locations mentioned in this book. The "Royally" (now a typical "student pub)was a regular haunt and I well recall the outside garden,the huge guard dog on the roof (plus the upstairs function room where numerous local musicians made their bids for stardom), the Newlands before and after its mysterious conflagration and the many streets between Burley Road and Hyde Park corner and beyond, not to mention the infamous Hayfield in Chapletown, also now demolished.

Professor Ronald Hutton,head of Historical Studies at Bristol University and a board member of English Heritage is the author of numerous books dealing with aspects of British paganism and legends.In "The Druids" he details some 2,000 years of perceptions of what he chooses to call Druidry,from classical Greek and Roman references (Tacitus and Julius Caesar included)up to its 21st century manifesations.
