Whilst at Uni, I got into all sorts of new music, from Pink Floyd to Orbital, the Stone Roses to BT, etc. I could go on for hours and have the debts to prove it! Anything with depth or the ability to make your spine tingle gets my vote. Being an experienced drummer, and having fond memories of clubbing in the early-to-mid-nineties, hopefully has opened my eyes and I try to avoid dull music like Travis, Texas or Stereophonics. My dream, I suppose would be to immerse myself in music, if I had the money, I'd open a recording studio. Hopefully, my passion for music will continue for many years to come!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
This book appealed to me from the outset; tales of witches, madness, families in turmoil and the setting of Salem all got me anticipating something rather good, and this novel didn't disappoint me at all. I was gripped pretty quickly and found the story very absorbing, dealing with all the above issues and more.
Our heroine, Towner (or Sophya), is a troubled soul and we gradually uncover why as the book progresses; through flashbacks, various recollections and other accounts, though what is truth and what is fiction largely remains unclear until the unexpected twist at the end. Her family is full of fascinating characters and are portrayed generally as an odd bunch, together with… Read more

I found the excessive use of reviews on the cover of this book a little off-putting at first, as I generally don't like being told how good something is and would rather form my own opinion, then compare it to what others think after.
Anyway, once I got over this and started reading these stories, I was gripped pretty much straight away and finished the whole collection in 4 sittings or so. Given the overall length of the book, I could have read them in one go, but I chose to limit myself and let each story (or 2 at a time) sink in as I felt they deserved this.
I won't give a synopsis of each story, as this can probably be found elsewhere, but they all share a… Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
I've read quite a few enjoyable thriller/mystery/crime books over the last couple of years, however I had become a little tired of the genre as at it's worst it can be very formulatic and predictable. Therefore, this wasn't at the top of my pile to pick up, but I'm sure glad I did.
I went to university in Plymouth and found the fact that this book is set in the city and the surrounding countryside a very novel and enjoyable twist. Many a time I found myself thinking "I've been there", or "I know where that is!". It makes a refreshing change from the likes of London, New York, or any large sprawling city where these types of books are usually set. In particular, the later… Read more
