Ok, I seem to be in a minority here, because I love '80s Maiden, but I also have a grudging respect for Brave New World and Dance Of Death, and I absolutely loved A Matter Of Life And Death (which I thought was the most consistent album since Seventh Son...)

So...The Final Frontier. Well, it defied expectations, and for that I absolutely love it! Every time Maiden release an album, especially in recent years, they seem to create an expectation and then blow it out of the water. Like reviews for other compilation albums by artists such as Queen etc, we see the same kind of complaints - 'Why are they releasing stuff we already have?' and so on. If you already have the albums, why would you want to buy any compilations? These albums aren't for you, they're for people who have heard of the bands but don't know where to start listening to them (I was the same, coming late to Maiden, and allowed a friend to create a compilation for me which led to my becoming a devoted fan).

The music here is awesome, and will be a treat for people who are just stepping into the waters. People who refer to older compilations don't seem to understand that 'old' compilations… Read more
