I was given this and told to read it because it was really interesting. I'm not a Tudor fan at all - I'm a Plantagenet girl through and through, but dear heavens, a book about Anne Boleyn's frocks??? How much more of the Tudor barrel can be scraped? Coming soon - a book on Katherine Howard's pet dog.

I do enjoy these books, but I always end up feeling a bit let down at the end simply because she seems to shoehorn so many coincidences, and this time it was the very last 'email' correspondence that just made me tut.

Having said that, I think that for the most part, this was a wonderful story with certain parts of it being genuinely creepy - the whole ticking clock thing was a wonderful touch (I've always found those old clocks extremely unsettling) and the two different sets of diaries and so on - but as I say, when coincidence piles upon coincidence it just becomes a bit wearing.

As with so many people who have reviewed this, I am not a lover of celebrity biographies - they are invariably self-serving in the extreme. But Danny Baker is an exception to that rule. He is a genuinely funny, clever man, who made me laugh out loud on many occasions whilst reading this book - I defy anybody to read of his experiences seeing 'Hair' and not make a fool of themselves by laughing loudly (very embarrassing if one is sitting on the bus!)

As with the man himself, it feels a bit - relentless - in places, as if you're being hit over the head with something that you're enjoying but wish would just calm down for a second. But that is in no way to detract from what is a… Read more
