Street Child is a gripping novel which draws the reader in. As soon as you read the blurb you have to read the whole story up to the very end. It introduces Jim, a poor Victorian boy who is kicked out of his rented home and sent to the workhouse- a dreadful place to be. The intesity of this book almost turns the pages for you as you delve into the depths of emotion. We would give it 11\10 because the writer creates a whirl of emotion and a mixture of feelings. The fact that it is set in Victoran times really sets the scene and makes this read the best it can be.
Overall, this is an excellent book which we would recommend to people from the ages 9 and above.
