The Annotated Turing: A Guided Tour Through Alan T&hellip by Charles Petzold
I've just finished reading this book, and I enjoyed it greatly. Do I understand much more about Turing's work on the Entscheidungsproblem problem? No, not much, but that's my fault not the author. I know a bit more about the Turing Machine - and that IS fascinating. You can start to see where computing came from (I've been working on computers for over 40 years now, and have done a lot of study - I learn more from this book . Petzold writes engagingly, knowledgeably, and passionately about the work - and that was good enough for me to not only complete the book, but a) look at other books by Petzold; and b) look at Alonzo Church.

4.0 out of 5 stars Work well, 20 Sep 2013
I use three of these, and have just bought four more. I run them off a powered USB hub using older and smaller 2.5" disks to populate a small OS X-based file server. No problem with any of them - good product.
The Accidental Assassin: An Island, A Poodle, A Bo&hellip by Jan Toms
A very pleasant lightweight (though a lot of bodies pile up!) crime story. Victor (an inoffensive Tax office worker) gets caught up in a gangland war between two groups and he accidentally causes the deaths of some of the players. Through the story he acquires a poodle, two kittens, and a new outlook on the other sex. Based on the Isle of Wight - so a wonderful location! Not great literature, and I enjoyed it.
