Bought this battery grip for my Nikon d5000 as a replacement for another one which needed a cable to use the shutter button, Whereas this one does not.
To use the shutter button on this grip all you have to do is go into the cameras menu and set the shutter release to remote mode and then snap away, however you then have to set it back again to shoot in landscape, not too much of an annoyance (better than using a cable)
My only gripe is that it is just marginally longer than the camera so sticks out a little at one end not buy much though.
A MUST BUY, GREAT ITEM.

Bought these to see if they would ease pain in knees from kneeling on concrete floors at work for full days.
THEY DID, absolutely great, pain has now pretty much gone, saved my knees before it was too late.
