The Night World isn't a place. It s all around us. It s a secret society of vampires, werewolves, witches, and other creatures of darkness that live among us. They re beautiful and deadly and irresistible to humans. There are only two rules, punishable by death.
The Night World laws say it's okay to hunt humans. It's okay to toy with their hearts. It's even okay to kill them. There are only two things you can't do with them:
1) Never let them find out the Night World exists; and
2) Never fall in love with them.

I picked up this novel intrigued by the back cover's description of a more "adult" Buffy style character, investigating a series of supernatural murders written in a "sexy, edgy, wickedly ironic style". Incubus Dreams fails to work on even this level.
In no way did its description prepare me for the trudging onslaught of mind numbingly boring, repetitive, sex scenes which fill at least 500 of the novel's 600 pages. Secondary and even tertiary characters are only introduced so that the protagonist can have sex with them.
I wouldnt have a problem with these scenes if they were written in an imaginative, titillating way, however they are described with as much enthusiasm… Read more
