My previous toothbrush was the first electric one I'd ever owned - the groovy little Vitality. As many others have found out, that model has a short battery life, which meant that, for the last year or so, I couldn't take it off the charger. That said, it was well worth the price and still working fine as long as I kept it charged.

But finally I succumbed to the temptation to replace it, and hunted about for the best deal.

This model struck me as perfect, given what I wanted, which was:

1: value for money - slightly older models go down in price fast and they're not always worse - in fact, they're sometimes better

Having Michel Thomas on your laptop is like having your very own pushy-but-loving Polish Jewish uncle staying for the holidays - he wants to know what you're doing at school, how well exactly, insists you could try harder but loves you anyway and doesn't mind showing it.

Yes, it does sound cheesy - but allied to really solid content, it's a winning combination. And (esp. for those of us who led uncle-free childhoods) it honestly does bring you back for more, day after day.

As for that solid content I mentioned... I'd agree with the majority of reviews here (and especially those who say buy the complete course and not just the foundation). I just want to add one thing… Read more

I've just returned from Paris where we used this little box of tricks all week. It's a playing card system with a numbered subject on one side with kid-centred highlights, and a cartoon-style map on the other. Very much directed at kids themselves, the adults among us found ourselves slipping the odd card into our bag every now and then instead of the street map! Fantastic not to be dragging a heavy book around every day.. and oddly satisfying shuffling and replacing the cards you've used after a day out. Great for younger children (up to 10), text too simple for the older ones, - so this works well combined with Fodor's Around Paris With Kids, which has the cultural edge this lacks. This… Read more
