My only disappointment with this DVD is that it's cropped from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1 aspect ratio. But the film is very very good - and very violent. Uwe Boll gets a bad rap, but with the right material his films are well worth seeing. I found his best films to be SEED, RAMPAGE, DARFUR, BLOODRAYNE (uncut unrated version only), and TUNNEL RATS. TUNNEL RATS is an exploitation film, with graphic violence bordering on horror, but it's also tense, with satisfactory or better performances, and well worth seeing. Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0. Cropped 16x9 1.78:1 ratio.

Saw this at the cinema and I thought it was really good. Gory and very different. Seeing it again confirms my first view - this is a well-made atmospheric horror film with some quality effects work. What surprised me somewhat was the heavy grain of this UK Blu-ray (but I don't have the US version to compare, so can't say whether all releases are like this or not). Oh well - it is uncut (contains the US unrated version) and it's nice to have on Blu ray.

While the Troma film was goofy in it's wonderfully violent excess, this new version jettisons the broad comedy for a straight horror-thriller. And to well above-average effect. Performances are excellent, and the story is new (with just the basic theme from Troma's film). Atmospheric and tense - and Mother's domineering entrance really does propel the film along. I imported this from the UK because our local Australian-New Zealand release is cropped to 1.78:1. This is the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
