Impromptus, Op. 90: D. 899 (Signature Series (ABRS&hellip by Franz Schubert
5.0 out of 5 stars well produced collection, 27 April 2012
This is the easier of the 2 sets of Schubert impromptus, but nonetheless represents a challange for more advanced pianists. The Opus contains 4 fairly long pieces, each of different character, but all with recurring themes that Schubert subtly varies as the movements progress. As with most ABRSM piano publications, the score is very clearly printed and easy to read, with careful fingering suggestions.
Made to Measure: New Materials for the 21st Centur&hellip by Philip Ball

In the rapidly changing world of science and technology this book is becoming a bit dated, but it still provides a very readable introduction to applied chemistry and physics. Some background understanding would help, but Philip Ball guides his readers through an impressively wide range of different materials and technologies, many of which are just beginning to be commercially established in the 21st Century. This is a book I would recommend someone with a science background who wants to know more about how modern technologies (computers, silicon chips, photoelectric cells, batteries for electric cars, adhesives, etc) work, and for A level students considering a degree in material sciences.

5.0 out of 5 stars elegant and practical, 27 April 2012
I bought these glasses for my daughter who would not be seen dead in the nerdish eye protection I've used for squash over the last 20 years. The fact that she wears them religiously is thus a testament to their appearance. Furtunately they have not been tested by contact with a speeding ball, but I've no doubt that they would be effective. They impressively stay in place during the fast movements of the game and do not seem to suffer from steaming up.
I've been hit by a squash ball in the eye, and I would recommend these to be worn by all players of whatever standard whenever they play.
