Gutenberg's Apprentice
4.0 out of 5 stars A great read, 21 Sep 2014

I am a sucker for a good historical fiction book, I like them when the plot is believable, the characters well fleshed out and the atmosphere authentic.

With Gutenbergs Apprentice all the boxes are ticked. You follow the hero Peter Schoeffer as he is forced to give up his career as a successful scribe to apprentice himself to a Master Gutenberg who had this crazy idea. To create books that are not hand written but printed.

We take the printed word for granted, but when you think how truly revolutionary the movable printing press was it is a fascinating story.

Scandinavian Baking: Loving Baking at Home by Trine Hahnemann
4.0 out of 5 stars Yummy Scandi Scrummy, 21 Sep 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
When one thinks of Scandinavian cooking, baking does not immediately come to mind. However this sumptuous book challenges this.

Full of gorgeous photos of what the recipes SHOULD be like it is a pleasant read. The pictures are a great indicator of what a wide variety of food that the Scandinavian countries eat.

My favourite section is the Christmas one, full of recipes for Christmas treats that are impressive to look at and surprisingly easy to make.

When reading the book I got the impression that the author is an enthusiastic cook who is proud of her Scandinavian heritage and is excited to share her favourite recipes both sweet and savoury.

GOODOGS TREAT Dogs Snack for Dogs, Small by GOODOGS TREAT
4.0 out of 5 stars Yum yum nom nom, 16 Sep 2014

Again we have a winner here. Light of my life Mr Picky Lurcher is a fan.

These treats are really great. They are of a size to be a decent treat but not too big. The down side from a human perspective is that they honk.

Dogs seem to like the smell. Must be a canine thing. The tub has am easy opening top and is sturdier than those pesky plastic packets that rip easily.

An all round canine crowd pleaser.
