In My Own Words:
Many of my reviews will be 4 stars or more. This is because I don't tend to do negative reviews, unless a product is so awful it's practically a criminal offence to sell it... If I like something, I want to share. So often I use customer reviews to help me with a purchase, so I think it's time I returned the favour and added some reviews of my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a novice, 30 Mar 2013
I know very little about the history of Britain prior to the Romans. A visit to several stone circles across the UK prompted me to look around for some books that would educate me while not sending me off to sleep. This book fit the bill. It's accessible to people like me who don't have a degree in archaeology, while managing not to be so dumbed down as to annoy the reader. The writing style is easy to follow and entertaining, it presents what could be quite dry facts and information in an interesting way. It did exactly what I hoped it would and I now feel better informed. Not only that, but in an odd way I now feel more closely connected to the land of my birth than ever before, something… Read more

I first read this in printed form and was very happy to see it being released as an e-book. I haven't read the novel and the e-book side by side, but I have a feeling there have been some additions made to the e-book version. Kindle is made for books like this; in printed form it's quite weighty as there are a lot of pages. The author has managed to pack in believable characters, a rich and vivid world, and a compelling story that leaves you wanting to know more. Don't do what I did and start reading late at night because you will want to read one more chapter and this will become just one more... I felt like my old teenage self who would read books by torchlight and had school in the… Read more

Having some mixed feelings about TV tie-ins, I was relieved to find this novel delivered exactly what the blurb described and that the author is clearly someone familiar with the series, its history, and its characters. The novel is a thoroughly entertaining action story, with the team having to undergo a series of trials which test their intelligence, their courage, their determination and, at times, their bond of friendship with one another. There were some very pleasant surprises along the way, most notably mentions of events from the Stargate movie. The author manages to weave together both series and movie canon to offer explanations for differences between the two, notably the origin… Read more
