So much of this book has dated badly. The notion that everyone can just recreate themselves however they wish is contradicted by all the latest scientific findings, which demonstrate that personality, IQ and other psychic traits are fixed at conception. The notion of a Communist revolution actually changing anything (other than the nature of the elite) is equally ridiculous.
The novel is well-written in places, but suffers from that ludicrous 'aren't we all SO liberated' guff that marks books from that era. People aren't liberated - women have evolved to use sex as a weapon, for instance. All the characters seem to be extensions of the author's ego, not characters in their own… Read more
