Having broken the screen on my Kubik EVO screen, I decided to try out the ROCA with its touch screen navigation.

The sound quality is about the same as the EVO, but the navigation is far superior. All went well until I began to encounter some problems with the operation. Here they are:

1. When [Music] is selected, the up/down arrows on the list then move the selection up/down two rows instead of one, so it is impossible to select some items.

2. The MS PlayFX EQ settings: 3D, Bass and Level EQ have no effect

3. In the "Currently Playing" display, indicated EQ is not consistent with the EQ actually selected.

This is a great movie from the 90s with cheeky JTT (Home Improvement) and the sadly departed Brad Renfro (The Client). How tragic to offer this in a savagely cropped 4:3 version with most of that wonderful wide-screen picture removed!

You simply have to see this film in its original 2.35:1 widescreen ratio to appreciate just what is missing. Fortunately, it is available in this format, though more expensive. In my view, if you can find a copy of the Disney PAL Euro-release (see picture), it's well worth the extra pennies.

I think this is a great little player and have been amazed at the performance. Despite the spec, I can confirm that this gem will play mp3 and WMA with both constant and variable bit-rates up to at least 350kb/s!

I use a couple of 16G micro-SD cards in my car, and was delighted to be able to slot these straight into the Sansa to have my entire music library available after a only couple of minutes "media refresh".

As noted elsewhere, it is vital to override the ridiculously low volume level imposed for "Europe", and set to "Rest of the world"; then the little box can pump out the bass and treble, no problem. I find it almost insulting that the EU can dictate the volume… Read more
